And where exactly will Bernie get this money?

Unfortunately Bernie Sanders doesn't know what he's talking about.

Gov't has no money. Gov't is broke. It has trillions in deficits (it borrowed money, then spent it, and now has no more. Worst, since the gov't has been doing this for so long, it now can't function without this borrowed money)

One of two things will happen:

1) Out-of-control government get reigned in by people who understand that now is the time to act before things get catastrophic (the tea party movement thing)
2) The government will go bankrupt

The consequences of (2) are much more serious than taking Pell Grants away from grad studends

Bernie's leftist arguments sound nice in theory but don't apply to the real world.

So what is one way to go forward, other than savage cuts for programs for the most vulnerable people in this country? (...)

Why does anyone think it is moral or right to move towards deficit reduction on the backs of the weak and the vulnerable? I understand -- and I know something about politics -- I do understand that the parents of kids who are in Head Start do not make large campaign contributions, and I know that the senior citizens of thic ountry who need some help for social security do not make large campaign contributions -- I undersrtand that. I understand that college students desperately trying to go through college on a Pell Grant do not make large campaign contributions. But there is a sense of morality here that we have to deal with, and I think it makes no sense, I think it is immoral, I think it is bad economics to balance the budget on the backs of working families while we give continued tax breaks to those people who don't need it.

Horrible cheap shot on Montreal Canadiens player Max Pacioretty

On March 8, the Habs played the "Big Bad Bruins". This was probably the most important game to date this season not only because of the tension between these two teams physically (they don't like each other very much) and because of how close they are in the standings as they race for first in the division. and they have a reputation of being a tough team who plays very physical.

There's nothing wrong with physicality in sports I guess but this... this isn't something that belongs.



It all started two months ago to the day when the same Canadiens rookie sensation, Max Pacioretty, scored in overtime to win the game 3-2 after the Bruins allowed the Habs to score two goals in the final 3 minutes of play to tie up the game. After he scored, he gave Boston defender Zdeno Chara (who happens to be 6"9, 260 pounds) a little shove behind his net and he didn't take it well. Since then, it was war.



The Canadiens and Bruins played again about a month later. The B's still had a bitter taste in their mouth from the loss and the game was due to be a good one. It didn't disappoint. A full brawl started when a Boston player hit a Montreal player after the whistle that even saw the goalies exchange fists. Now there is a heated debate amongst NHL fans, players and the league between those who support fighting and those who don't. My primitive side loves it, but people are getting too big and strong and it just isn't worth it to see people get injured like that but thankfully, this didn't happen during this brawl.

Notice about 15 seconds into the video, Zdeno Chara (#33 in Black) goes after Max Pacioretty (#67) for a bit, still looking for retaliation from the last game.



Anyways... If you don't like hockey, this won't make you change your mind and if you do, it's just disappointing. The guy is gonna face a suspension for sure. Pacioretty, who is the Habs best forward as of late and is parts of the small group of young players who are the future of the team, might have played his last game with that level of skill. He suffered a major concussion and may have injured his neck.

Thanks Boston, you really screwed the pooch in that one.
