  1. I think conan is gonna do really well now that he's not caught up with the main stream late night humor that I think is struggling to find its strive again.. /correct me if i'm wrong but I feel like TV is continuing to dominate entertainment but is getting worse every year.. i hope conan's show is refreshing

  2. Interesting, B. I actually haven't really watched TV since... well, see previous post :)

What exactly do you mean by TV is dominating entertainment? This is an interesting question, especially at a time when there have never been more modes of entertainment out there! What's interesting is how personalized entertainment is: it used to be that at 7:00pm on a Wednesday, there were maybe 10 things you could watch (if you had cable)-or you could read a book. Now? Sky's the limit, you can watch anything, anytime, anywhere. Not to mention brand new social media that gather together news, gossip, entertainment and more (facebook, blogs, bref, the intertbes!!). I'm not at all saying you don't have a point though! (check out this article that seems to agree with you: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/08/23/business/media/23couch.html?_r=1&WT.mc_id=TE-SM-E-FB-SM-LIN-PTW-082310-NYT-NA&WT.mc_ev=click )

But returning to Conan. When he was on the later nighttime spot, he had pretty much free reign to do whatever the hell he wanted, he's said this interviews and, well, the proof is in the pudding: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmUe2Nv7Vc0&feature=related.
I never watched him once he moved to the earlier slot, so I don't know how the content changed, if at all.

But I agree that in general the "Golden Age" of TV Humour is - well it's definitely not now. I'd really like to explore TV humour through the years, especially back when SNL was ground breaking and hilarious and the starting-off point for all the comedy greats. And understand the evolution of tv humour leading up to shows like Family Guy...
And I do wonder how Conan's show will fit into (or help change!) the current scene.

... Because if I have to hear one more person say how great "Glee" is....
